Joan Stark graduated top of her class from The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) in New York City in the early-1980s. After graduation she worked as an Executive Chef and Culinary Artist at the Café Carlyle but left due to her husband's quickly blossoming career. She packed up her son Gavin and moved with Travis to St. Claire. Joan is smart, independent and fiercely protective of her children. She has a very motherly nature and tries often to reason with her kids more so than punish them. She excels at keeping a cool exterior in the public face and is rarely ruffled by probing and nosy reporters. With years of practice, she always thinks through what she is going to say, choosing her words for maximum impact or sting. Joan has helped with Travis' election campaign, his work as State's Attorney and his efforts on becoming the next governor.
